Why Join Our Ways Strong Together?
Membership connects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) across the country to a national voice, shared resources, and coordinated action to end family, domestic and sexual violence.
Membership is open to all ACCOs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peak Bodies delivering FDSV prevention, early intervention or response services and activities:
- Primary Purpose Organisation Members: Organisations whose primary purpose is FDSV response, prevention or early intervention.
- General Members: ACCOs and Peak Bodies delivering FDSV services alongside other core functions (e.g., health, wellbeing, child and family services, housing, Alcohol and Other Drugs, law/justice)
We adopt the definition of an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisation as set out in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.
As defined in the National Agreement:
An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Organisation delivers services, including land and resource management, that builds the strength and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people and is:
a. incorporated under relevant legislation and not-for-profit
b. controlled and operated by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
c. connected to the community, or communities, in which they deliver the services
d. governed by a majority Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander governing body.’

- Your application will be reviewed against the membership criteria. We may contact you for further information if required.
